Business VoIP — Alliant Capital

Alliant Capital

"Phones are so important. They're more important than computers. Everybody shied away from VoIP at first because it was immature, but now it's ready for prime time. Our Speakeasy Hosted Voice system is always up and so much easier to manage than a traditional PBX. Moves, adds, changes and disaster recovery are all much more seamless."

— Jerome Hernandez, IT Manager, Alliant Capital

Company Background

Alliant Capital is a leading sponsor of affordable housing tax credit partnerships. With offices nationwide, Alliant requires a strong communications system to stay connected to investors, developers, lenders and state housing agencies. Eighty employees work in the main office in Woodland Hills, California. Another five are in a small Connecticut office. The rest of the 120 person staff works remotely from home offices all over the country.

Overview

  • Challenge
Alliant was outgrowing their old phone system and spending too much on long distance. They needed a cost-effective communications solution that would unite employees across the country. The 15-year-old NEC phone system in Alliant's main office required expensive maintenance and complicated programming via a system of key strokes.
  • Solution
After trying out Speakeasy Hosted Voice in their Connecticut office, Alliant realized that they could save on long distance and simplify maintenance by bringing all their teleworkers into the same system. With Speakeasy Hosted Voice, moves, adds, and changes can be made quickly and virtually. All it takes is a quick call to Speakeasy. VoIP makes disaster recovery simple. PBX functionality is hosted on Speakeasy's multi-redundant nationwide network, so there's no expensive equipment to relocate or rewire.
  • Results
In the Connecticut office, Alliant reduced their monthly phone bill by 75% with unlimited long distance calling plans. They immediately began the process of transitioning the entire company to Speakeasy. Alliant's nationwide operation enjoys the simplicity of one unified system, one predictable monthly bill, and single-point-of-contact support. If an Alliant office ever goes down, their voice system will stay up. Calls can still be routed to voicemail or cell phones. Callers never get a busy signal. Service can be migrated quickly to any location with an Internet connection.
